Choosing your photo location

So you're all booked in for your photo session and now you have to decide where you'd like to take your photos. Some clients already have an idea of where they'd like their photos taken, if that's you, please let me know your ideas. I have a handful of locations around Brisbane that I frequently shoot at, but I highly recommend my clients think about what environment best suits them as a family. I've made some recommendations below to suit different family types.

Explorers, hustle, urban, adventurous, on foot, love a bit of street noise and historic buildings.

If this sounds like you, I would definitely suggest choosing somewhere that feels more like a concrete playground! Think the Fortitude Valley/City vibes. Buildings, cars, rooftops, historic buildings, brick walls, graffiti art. If you have kids and they're more shy, this option might be best to let them explore and sight-see.

The best part about this option is that after you're finished your session, you're all dressed up and could have a nice dinner in the city before you head home!

Quiet, park-play, nature-lovers, camping, relaxed, animals, family bonding.

Your family likes to getaway and enjoy nature. Your kids love animals and being outdoors, anywhere with grass, trees and maybe even water.

I'd recommend a location that has plenty of grass, room to roam around, space to lay down and soak up a moment. A handful of locations I use have a small lake or river that attract birds and even one that lands right next to a farm, sometimes the sheep or goats will come and say hello!

The beach bums, born to swim, adventurous, summer-lovin' all year round.

Is the ocean or water calling your name? Do you or your kids LOVE being in the water? A fun session by the sea or river could allow you a playful element where you all end up in the water at the end.

Perfect for those who can throw away expectations of a photo session and are happy to get a little damp. Mind you, not all sessions have to end up completely waist deep, sometimes it's nice to dip your toes in.

I have a water location 15 minutes from Brisbane, otherwise you may prefer somewhere down the Gold Coast or north.

Take a look at some of my favourite photo session locations below. Please note, while most of these locations fall under my travel scope, a few may require an additional travel fee which may be paid at the time of invoicing or afterwards depending on when your location has been decided on. Please feel free to send me through any locations below that stand out to you! I can't wait to see which are your favourites.
